It indicates that the person wearing the engagement ring is engaged to be married.
The traditional way is to wear an engagement ring on your left hand’s third finger.
You can buy engagement rings direct from the Jacobson Diamonds website. Alternatively, you can arrange an appointment to visit us at our Dublin store.
It’s not compulsory, but you can improve the longevity of an engagement ring by taking it off before you have a shower.
The choice is yours. But, it makes sense to remove it before bed to protect it from scratches, heat, and moisture.
Again, this is down to personal choice. You should select an engagement ring according to your style and tastes.
At Jacobson Diamonds, all our engagement rings are handcrafted. Aside from a selection of standard options, you also have the choice to design your own engagement ring with us.
In typical Western culture, it is the man that buys the engagement ring for the woman. But, in cultures where both people wear an engagement ring, the rings get chosen together.
Diamond engagement rings hold their value, and like gold are considered a worthy investment.
Some people don’t know it, but 10k gold is harder and therefore more durable than other gold mixtures.
No. 10k gold is made up of ten parts gold and fourteen parts other metals like silver, copper, zinc, or nickel. It has a gold purity rating of 42%.
18k gold is the softest of all gold and is typically only worn for special occasions. For an engagement ring or wedding band, 14k gold is a better option. That’s because it’s more resistant to wear and tear.
10k, 14k, and 18k gold are likely to become green in appearance after a long period. The reason for that is down to the other metals mixed in with the gold. Pure gold itself won’t turn green, but it’s too soft to use as a standalone metal for rings.
The answer will depend on the weight of the gold and the current market prices.
You will first need to clean the ring with some warm soapy water. Next, dry it and gently use a polishing cloth to polish the scratches out.
Lightly draw the ring against an unglazed ceramic plate. If it leaves a slight gold mark, the engagement ring is made of real gold.
10k gold is the toughest type available and more resistant to scratches. 18k gold looks more like pure gold but can get damaged easily due to being so soft.
The average diamond size for an engagement ring is around one full carat.
There’s no official guideline, as it all depends on your budget and personal preferences.
It makes more sense to buy a higher clarity but smaller diamond rather than a larger diamond with lower clarity.
For diamonds between one and two carats, a grade of SI1 is best. Anything over two carats, you should consider a grade of VS2 or higher.
Pear-shaped diamond cuts look the longest.
Marquise has the largest surface area of all diamond shapes.
Put the diamond in a glass of water. If it sinks, it’s real. But if it floats, it’s fake!
Not all diamonds come with certificates. But all Comparable diamonds will look the same regardless of certification.
The best diamond certificates are GIA and AGS. That’s because they offer the most consistent lab grading.
GIA is preferrable out of the two as it’s considered the gold standard of diamond grading.
Moissanite refracts the light at higher levels than diamonds, and it has a more sparkly appearance.
It’s best to keep calm and retrace your steps. If you still can’t find it, you may need to file an insurance claim for it.
